Chinese Seafood Exhibition as World Seafood Shanghai 2017
The World Seafood Shanghai Exhibition (formerly known as SIFSE) will take place on 19 – 21 August 2017 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China. Over 31,400 buyers and 850 sellers from more than 30 countries and regions are expected to attend.
The World Seafood re-brand has been introduced as part of ITE’s acquisition of the exhibition. The event will now form part of ITE’s WorldFood series of exhibitions, all of which are already established in Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Poland and Uzbekistan.
The World Seafood Exhibition comprises of two co-joined events: the 12th Shanghai international Fisheries and Seafood Exhibition and the 12th Shanghai International Aquaculture Exhibition.
The two co-located events help local and international importers and exporters to do more business across the Central China seafood market, thus reducing the national demand and supply gap.
Danish Agriculture & Food Council; Bord Bia; SONGA; Zhongyang Group; High Hope Group etc. have confirmed their participation for this year’s event.
China is the world’s biggest country with a colossal food and drink market – 1.3 billion people live, work, eat and drink in China.
Seafood consumption is increasing annually, matching rising import levels and incomes. By 2020, each person will eat 35.9 kg, while urban consumption of seafood has already passed 40kg per capita.
Chinese seafood imports are expected to exceed $20 billion by 2020. Domestic overfishing and environmental concerns are pointing towards a greater demand for imported seafood. Also, aquaculture operations are crying out for more efficient, more cost effective, updated technologies.
Keith Tsui, General Manager, ITE China states: “Now is the right time for international and local businesses to get more involved in the Chinese seafood market. The Chinese middle class is growing faster than in the USA – this, along with an increased level of purchasing power points towards larger importing and exporting opportunities.”
Call for exhibitors is now open. To express your interest, please contact Andrew Burman on +44 (20) 7596 5097 or [email protected]
Key exhibition sectors will include: aquatic products, seafood and prepared food; processing, packaging, preservation technology and equipment; aquaculture technology and equipment; aquatic feed and drugs; seafood agency; and fishing tools and technologies.
